Re-Opening News and Update

Hello Shedders and our fans,

We had hoped to talk about reopening on the 8th of March, however the recent pronouncements have quashed that vague hope. Notwithstanding change on scientific data, that magic day may be between the 29th March and hopefully no later than April 12th.

Meanwhile your committee members have been applying themselves individually or jointly to the adaption work at Hind Street. Order is slowly being created out of the chaos of the move from the Portacabin.

Probably the most important work that is now complete is the new wall that has established a separate carpeted social area that has large viewing windows onto the main workshop. It is now complete with kitchen sink and full tea making facilities.

We have installed a Windows 10 enabled PC that is now connected to the internet. We have yet to furnish the room with a sofa!

The cyclone dust extractor now has an enclosure, which has significantly dropped the noise level. The associated ducting has yet to be installed, but completion is expected before the end of March. Storage racks have been made with easy access to long lengths of timber. Sheet materials and short timber lengths, also have designated storage trolleys/bins.

East Devon District Council have recognised the value that the Shed gives to the community and have given us a generous grant to cover the loss of income that we have experienced over these Covid lockdowns. This was just as well as the capital expenditure on the table saw, planer/thicknesser and dust extractor had left our reserves in an unhealthy state.

So watch this space guys, life will return!
